In short

  • Files are processed in memory and deleted after conversion.
  • Pages that need a second look may be sent to Google's Gemini API, where requests can be retained for up to 55 days under Google's terms.
  • Uploads are not used to train models.
  • Results show only the last four digits of a Social Security number.
  • No account is needed. A random device identifier counts the free allowance.
  • A page code, if you enter one, is kept in your browser and sent with each upload so the service can apply it.

What we handle

The file you upload (pay stubs as PDF or images), which can include names, addresses, employer details, pay figures and Social Security numbers; the result built from it, which stays in your browser; a random device identifier; a page code, if you enter one; your network address as seen by the hosting provider; and, if you subscribe, the email address on your PayPal subscription (where the page code is sent) and any address you write to us from about billing.

What happens to a file you upload

  1. Your browser sends the file to this site

The page posts the file to a function on the hosting provider. The page does not store it.

  2. The conversion service reads it in memory

The file is passed to the conversion service, which reads it in memory. Pages that need a second look may be sent to Google's Gemini API.

  3. The arithmetic checks run on the text

The text that was read is turned into rows and checked in the hosting function. Only the last four digits of any Social Security number are kept in the result.

  4. The result returns to your browser and the file is deleted

The worksheet, checks and downloads exist in your browser's memory. The uploaded file is deleted after conversion.

Who processes it

ProviderRoleWhat it does with your data
ModalComputeRuns the conversion that reads your file. The file is processed in memory and deleted after conversion. If you entered a page code, it receives that too, to apply the code.
Google (Gemini API)Vision checkPages that need a second look may be sent to Google's Gemini API. Under Google's terms, requests can be retained for up to 55 days.
CloudflareHosting and deliveryServes this site and passes your upload to the conversion service. Cloudflare keeps operational logs under its own policies.
PayPalSubscriptionsHandles checkout and the monthly subscription payment. Card details are entered with PayPal and are not collected by this site. We receive the email address on the subscription, which is where the page code is sent.

In your browser

The page stores up to two items in local storage: a random device identifier used to count the free allowance, which holds no personal information, and, if you enter one, your page code, which is sent with each upload so the service can apply it. We do not set cookies and we do not load advertising or social trackers. No analytics script is loaded. The typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to fetch it.

Your own use of other people's documents

Pay stubs contain personal data about the employee. Upload them only if you have the right to, for example because the person gave them to you to process an application. The terms set out acceptable use.

Your choices

You can use the converter without an account. You can clear the device identifier and any saved page code by clearing site data in your browser, or remove the code with the Remove link next to the code box. Depending on where you live you may have rights over personal data we hold, such as billing details. Email [email protected] and we will respond.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it.

Privacy: common questions

Do you store my pay stubs?

No. A file is processed in memory and deleted after conversion. The result is sent back to your browser and is not stored by this site.

Who else receives my file?

The compute provider that runs the conversion (Modal) and, only for pages that need a second look, Google's Gemini API. Cloudflare carries the request as the hosting provider. They are listed above.

How long does Google keep pages sent to the Gemini API?

Up to 55 days under Google's terms for the API. This applies only to pages that needed a second look, not to every upload.

Do you train AI models on my uploads?

No. Uploads are not used to train models.

Is the full Social Security number stored?

The worksheet, the CSV and the JSON show only XXX-XX- and the last four digits. The uploaded file itself may show the full number, so it is handled as above and deleted after conversion.

What is kept in my browser?

A random device identifier in local storage, used to count the free allowance without an account. It contains no personal information. If you enter a page code it is kept there too and sent with each upload; the Remove link next to the code box deletes it. Results and file contents stay in the page's memory and disappear when you close or reload it.

Does the site use cookies or advertising trackers?

There are no advertising trackers, no analytics scripts and no cookies set by this site. The typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to fetch it.

How is the free allowance counted?

By the random device identifier and by your network address, which the conversion service uses to count free use per day. No account or email is needed.

Who is the payment provider?

PayPal. Checkout and the monthly payment happen there, and this site has no card form. We receive the email address on the subscription so the page code can be sent to it.

How do I ask a question or make a request about my data?

Email [email protected]. Because uploads are deleted after conversion there is no stored upload to retrieve or delete. For billing records, say which email address you subscribed with.
